1913 National Game John McGraw PSA 10 GEM MINT Auction ends 9/10/17 at 10:50 CST
The 1913 National Game playing card set John McGraw graded PSA 10 Gem Mint is one of two in the world and is for sale via auction by Pre-War Card Collector until 9/10/17. PSA 9 graded McGraw cards of the similar set have a value of $400 according to the psacard.com online price guide and SportsMemorabilia.com has a PSA Graded 8.5 for sale for $726.99. I would expect a high three to low four digit hammer price on this rare gem. Still a bargain for a 104 year old Hall of Famer card in Gem Mint condition.
This set is not to be confused with the 1913 Tom Barker Card Set that is nearly identical to the National Game series.
According to Anson Whaley at sportscollectorsdaily.com, “The 1913 National Game cards (designed as WG5) are very similar to the Barker issue with the same size and number of cards (the same players with only a few exceptions), including the nine action cards. The easiest way to spot the difference between the Barker and National Game cards are the backs. While the Barker edition has a generic player with the Barker logo, the National Game backs include the words ‘Base Ball’ printed in large letters over ‘The National Game.’”
